Hello, I'm Nadia

I'm the owner of Nerdia Cat Makeup and the creator of The Profitable MUA™! I started my makeup business back in 2018 with zero knowledge of the business world. At the time, I was an art teacher—unhappy and craving something more. So I took a leap and started working for myself. I've always loved makeup since I was little, so I felt called to it!

Within just a year, I built a full-blown makeup business and landed commercial work. I quickly became known for it and had the opportunity to work with major networks like TBS, Showtime, Lifetime, ABC, CBS, NBC Universal, H-E-B, ESPN, TNT, touring Broadway shows, and so much more.

I’ve also been featured over 20 times on my local news variety show as the go-to makeup artist and formed a team of 5 talented makeup artists!

Film & TV Career

A lot of people ask me how I get the jobs I do—especially living in San Antonio. Most people think film and TV only happen in big cities like LA, but that's just not true.

When I first started my business, I made a lot of mistakes. But one thing I did right was choosing my niche early on. I tried bridal, event makeup, beauty—you name it. But everything changed after I landed my first commercial makeup job for Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

At the time, I was only doing SFX makeup for their Halloween events. One day, an opportunity came up to do makeup for a commercial shoot, and I took it. That was the moment everything clicked. I fell in love with production work.

From that point on, I was hooked. I worked hard to get on as many sets as possible—and that’s how it all started.

Why I Created The Profitable MUA™

After finding success a few years into my business, I was well on my way to consistent $10K months doing just commercial makeup. I was traveling, working on set, and doing what I loved.

By March 2020, I was fully booked and about to start a TV show in Texas. I was also scheduled to meet with a mentor in NYC to work on a film. And then… the pandemic hit.

In what felt like an instant, I lost everything. The entire business I had worked so hard to build was gone. No one was hiring makeup artists because of proximity and safety concerns. I learned a hard lesson that day: never put all your eggs in one basket. Always diversify your skills.

So that’s exactly what I did.

I pivoted. I started teaching online makeup classes, and they were a hit. I sold digital guides, offered 1:1 coaching, and found a new way to show up and serve. I loved it.

In 2022, I decided to shift again—this time from teaching everyday women to helping makeup artists grow their businesses. I started a brand new Instagram: @theprofitablemua_ and began posting free, helpful tips every single day. I didn’t sell anything at first—I just focused on value. The account quickly grew, and so did my business.

After struggling for years to find a planner made specifically for freelance makeup artists, I finally decided to make one myself. I started with a digital version—and it went viral.

Due to high demand, I decided to create a physical version too. And that’s how The Makeup Artist Business Planner was born.

The Profitable MUA™ Vision

The Profitable MUA™ was never a name about me. It’s not about boasting or saying I have a profitable business. From day one, it was always about you.

I wanted someone to read the name and instantly see it as a manifestation for themselves—a vision they could step into. A movement designed to help creatives build a business that unlocks the kind of life they’ve only dreamed about. The freedom to set your own schedule. The power to make others feel beautiful and empowered with your artistry.

To me, makeup is a powerful exchange of energy. When someone comes to you, pays you for your skill, and you deliver—that’s an incredible transfer of trust, confidence, and joy. And it just feels so damn good.

I’m also deeply aware of the disparities and inequalities women face when it comes to achieving financial freedom and wealth. That’s why I do this—to help lift us all up, together. I believe in a world where more women become self-made millionaires, where we’re not waiting for permission to succeed. The world needs more of us.

This isn’t just a business. It’s a mission—and I promise to keep showing up, creating tools, and sharing knowledge so you can rise. Because when one of us wins, we all do.
